From Algiers to Beirut, A video correspondence between Leïla Saadna and Sirine Fattouh (ongoing).

From Algiers to Beirut is a video installation composed of a series of short films forming a correspondence between Sirine Fattouh and Leïla Saadna.

The work unfolds as an exchange of images and words, moving back and forth between the two artists. Each video responds to the previous one, creating a fragmented dialogue across distance. Through this correspondence, their relationships to their respective countries emerge indirectly—shaped by memory, displacement, and lived experience. The dialogue is conducted in Lebanese and Algerian, with subtitles in French and English.

D’Alger à Beyrouth est une installation vidéo composée d’une série de courts-métrages qui forment un dialogue entre Sirine Fattouh et Leïla Saadna. Cette correspondance explore leurs relations complexes et difficiles avec leurs pays respectifs, en examinant comment ces liens ont influencé leurs choix passés et continuent de façonner leurs vies et identités. Le projet aborde des thèmes tels que le déplacement et l'immigration, l'identité et l'appartenance, ainsi que les expériences de discrimination, notamment le sexisme, le racisme et l’homophobie, en explorant les intersections entre ces enjeux.

Le dialogue se déroule en libanais et en algérien, avec des traductions en français.
