Behind the Shield is a 57-minute video installation filmed in Beirut between 2019 and 2020. Shot from a fixed position behind a car windshield, the camera records the city at a distance. Streets, checkpoints, conversations, and passing moments unfold without intervention. The footage spans a period marked by the October 2019 uprising, the economic collapse, and the explosion of August 4, 2020. Yet the film does not seek to capture events directly. It remains at their edge, observing what persists around them. Voices, radio broadcasts, and fragments of daily life enter the frame, creating a layered experience in which the ordinary and the historical coexist.

Behind the Shield est une installation vidéo de 57 minutes qui dresse un portrait cinématographique de Beyrouth entre 2019 et 2020. L'œuvre capture des moments clés de l’histoire récente du pays, de la révolution d’octobre 2019 à l’explosion du port du 4 août 2020, tout en mettant également en lumière les aspects banals et ordinaires de la vie quotidienne.
